OFFENSIVE DIRECTV COMMERCIAL

Have you seen DirecTV's new commercial named 'This Could Happen To You'? It is totally

offensive to me as someone who tries so hard to help homeless animals. I e-mailed the

company to complain. Here's what I wrote to them:

As someone who works every day of my life as a homeless & abused animal rescuer, I find

this commercial totally offensive. You seem to think that only strange, dirty & mentally

challenged people would stoop low enough to pick up a stray animal. Surely your educated

public relations people can come up with a better way to attract people to your product than

offending many, many people who try to relieve the suffering of innocent, thrown away

animals who can't help themselves. You should be ashamed of yourselves for stooping so

low. This makes me want to cancel my DirecTV. Please reconsider broadcasting such an

offensive commercial.

You can watch the commercial on their website www.directv.com. See what you think.

UPCOMING ELECTIONS & MONTHLY MEETING

Hello SAC friends!

Our monthly meeting of STOP ANIMAL CRUELTY IN HOT SPRING COUNTY will be this Sunday, 1/8 at 2 pm in the Fellowship Hall directly behind the Catholic Church in Malvern.  We hope to see you there.

I have recently received a list of SAC members and am checking to make sure we have the correct e-mail addresses. Our yearly election for Board of Directors will be next month and we need to be able to notify all members of the election date and time.  If we need to update or make any changes, please let me know.
Our Treasurer, Jane Goodwin, will be sending out e-mail notices to keep everyone informed of meetings and other important issues.

If you have access to Facebook on your computer, please check us out to see all we've been able to accomplish in and around Malvern.  Check out our group page at  https://www.facebook.com/groups/118519598176503/.....lots of great things happening!

We have held several spay/neuter clinics in and around Malvern with HUGE success in stopping unwanted litters.  We are proud to say we have been able to alter HUNDREDS of dogs & cats working with Arkansans for Animals in Little Rock. Dr. Joanna McManus and her Assistant, Diane, have done all of the surgeries and have been wonderful to work with us. Our next clinic is scheduled this month (01/24 & 25) and (01/31-02/01) at the Hot Spring County Fairgrounds in Malvern.
If you would like to help us with caring for the animals for a few hours or all day, any day, we would welcome that. We always need help in walking, comforting and waking up the animals after surgery.

Recently we have been able to re-home many animals by pulling them from the Malvern Animal Shelter before they are euthanized. By working with other rescue groups and posting their pictures/stories on Facebook, many lives have been saved.  One of our favorite happy endings is little Eddie, one puppy in a litter of puppies scheduled to die.  He was spotted on Facebook by a teenager girl in Long Island, New York. It was love at first sight. She and her father flew to Hot Springs in their private plane to pick up little Eddie. I am attaching a picture of him with his flight headphones on as they prepared to take him to his new forever home. What a wonderful story!!

As you can see, we have really become active recently.  We welcome new members as well as those who have joined us or helped us in the past. We are thankful for your past support and hope you will continue to support our small, but mighty, group. It takes all of us to be able to help our animal friends. We all do what we can...some more than others, but every little bit helps when it comes to helping the innocents who can't help themselves.

Thank you,
Sherry Burks

MAKE YOUR APPT NOW FOR OUR NEXT SPAY/NEUTER CLINIC!!

STOP ANIMALS CRUELTY IN HOT SPRING COUNTY'S next  Low Cost Spay/Neuter Clinic is coming up the 24 and 25th of Jan 2012 and the 31st of Jan and the 1st of Feb.
Everyday, 10,000 humans are born in the US an each day 70,000 puppies and kittens are also born. As long as these birth reates exist, there will never be enough homes for all the animals. As a result, millions of healthy loving cats, dogs, kittens, and puppies face early death as a form of animal control. Others are left to fend for themselves against automobiles, the elements, other animals and cruel humans. You can help just by spaying and nuetering your pets, don't ever buy from a pet store, as almost every one of them uses some form of a puppy mill and remind people to adopt from a shelter or rescue.
Call our hotline now to schedule your appointment - don't let your pet or your pet's off spring be one of these statistics. SPAY/NEUTER IS THE RESPONSIBLE THING TO DO. (501) 276-7570
